Baby Talk - Mick Flannery & SON

We say

This stunningly beautiful and moving duet is from Cork artist Mick Flannery and emerging singer-songwriter Susan O’Neill aka SON. It’s his first new release since the release of his acclaimed self-titled sixth album last year, which featured the RotD track Fool. It’s a welcome return and introduction to a remarkable new artist in SON, whose soulful, husky vocals complement Mick’s perfectly. Released earlier this year pre-pandemic, Baby Talk is a compelling he-said-she-said ballad that has been building some serious momentum and interest both in Ireland and the US recently. It’s currently the most played track on RTE Radio 1 and has amassed over 400k combined streams (including Spotify’s Fresh Folk & Easy playlist additions). With its gorgeous organ and piano melodies, backed by swooping strings, electric guitar motif and soft percussion, the track offers a distinct timeless feel, one that is warm and affecting, and will leave you coming back for more. This Friday, Mick will release a live album version of his last album with all profits going to his band and crew in Ireland who lost all their income due to COVID.
